Kenya is emerging from a difficult period in its commercial history. The timing of this Colloquium is pertinent for us as our new political regime heralds a new age of optimism; change is vital and change is happening.
Brenda Brainch is an internationally registered mediator with Europe’s Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and sits on the Board of the African Mediation Association (AfMA). Brenda holds a UK law degree and has focused her legal work on promotion of non-confrontational dispute management and resolution both in commerce and at community level. She worked for many years with the UN and international corporations, and is a regular consultant, trainer and speaker on ADR matters to local and international organisations, and has worked with the governments of Kenya, Tanzania, Guyana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Canada. Brenda is architect of a Village Mediation Programme in Malawi which has been developed as a generic model for use in other countries. She is a frequent contributor to various professional journals which have included: East Africa's The Lawyer and the Commonwealth Lawyer.
