Employment history

Founding partner of Urdaneta Holguín Abogados (“UHA”) in 2007, was also a founding partner in the year 2000 of Urdaneta & Vélez Abogados, now Urdaneta, Vélez, Pearl & Abdallah Abogados (“UVP&A”), where he stayed until 2005, when he was appointed lead counsel for Microsoft in the Andean area (Colombia, Perú, Venezuela and Ecuador). Mr. Urdaneta was at Microsoft until 2007.Before UVP&A he practiced independently (1996-2000), after having held various positions in both the public and private sectors since 1987.

Professional experience

He specializes in international contracts and international arbitration, with an emphasis in engineering and construction law and private equity structures.He has successfully represented Colombian clients in international arbitration under ICC and AAA rules, having obtained settlements and awards in excess of USD$25 million for them.He´s a member of the list of arbitrators of the Arbitration and Conciliation Centre of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, under the aegis of which he has acted on several occasions as member of an arbitration panel, as president of the panel and as sole arbitrator.He´s a professor of International Transactional Law and International Arbitration at Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario’s specialization programs, and a professor of Commercial Law at Colegio de Estudios Superiores de Administración (CESA).
